First, the grade of the road is steep, even for a neighborhood street. Heavy amounts or traffic would precipitate very unsafe driving conditions to the point of predictable accidents and injury. The junction at Mamalahoa would back up where more than a few cars would cause the last ones in line to be in a precariously position. Stopped, in traffic, with a difficult task of keeping the vehicle from rolling backward in the event of stall or use of a "stick shift". The road is so steep that a loss of power in a vehicle going down hill down would cause a dangerous situation considering the pitch of the road and the curves in it. Finally, and in summation, the road was not engineered to be a busy connector. To make it one now is not in the best interest of the neighborhood, Kona, or Hawaii. Thank you. Roger K. Duerr, #33 Makalei Estates. Comm. No. $ ~S Ref. To: MdR~~,i, ~fl(~1R 3/21/2006
