Makalei Drive and Palam~ Page 1 of 2
®ff, Karin
From: Steve Raymond [sraymond@phtcorp.com]
Scrst: Monday, March 20, 2006 6:12 AM
'To: Pilago, K. The road turns south above
our lot, and the grade in that region is steep. Our individual concern is that vehicles proceeding
downhill will fail to make the south turn (there is no barrier, there are no boundary reflectors) and
simply drive off the road and sail onto our house. Of course this concern becomes even higher if the
road is used, even temporarily, as a major North-South connector.
We believe that Makalei Drive was never intended by either the developer or the County to serve as a
makai mauka connector or county road. On the contrary, Hilu Hilu is required to build these roads under
the terms of the original Ordinance, 93-45 and the Land Use Commission Rulings. We support the
construction of an appropriate mauka/makai connector in conjunction with the planned Palamanui
development. Makalei Drive is NOT that connector.
Thank you for your invitation to comment on development in North Kona. We appreciate the attention
given this matter by your office.
Sincerely yours,
Steve and Candice Raymond
Lot 17 Makalei Estates
Stephen A.
