Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations, to which was referred
Resolution No. 251-06, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 251-06, transmitted by Public Works Director Bruce McClure, via Communication
No. 656, dated January 9, 2006, grants a vaziance from Chapter 3, Section 3-12(a), Hawaii County
Code (1983) 2005 Edition, to allow two ground signs for the Ali`i Gardens Marketplace, TMK
Number (3)7-5-020:070 (zoned Agriculture 5-acre). The complete application for a sign variance
was included.
Ali`i Gardens Marketplace is a commercially operated fazmer's market which has approximately
three hundred fifty (350) linear feet of frontage along Ali`i Drive and currently hosts over 50
kiosks, parking areas and accessory structures. The applicant has obtained a special use permit
allowing the commercial enterprise to conduct its business on the agricultural-zoned parcel.
Your Committee heazd testimony Keith Unger, an owner of the property, regarding the proposed
request Mr. Unger testified that Ali`i Gardens Marketplace has a special use permit.
Your Committee on Public Works and Intergovernmental Relations is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Resolution No. 251-06 and recommends its adoption.
