RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF SIXTY THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($60,000) FROM THE WAIKOLOA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
CORPORATION FOR THE WAIKOLOA EMERGENCY EVACUATION ROAD
PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Waikoloa Community Development Corporation has offered to provide
the County of Hawaii Department of Public Works, the sum of SIXTY THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($60,000) towards the construction of the Waikoloa Emergency Evacuation Road, an
alternate evacuation route for the Waikoloa Village residents; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used towards the construction of a gravel road from an
extension of Hulu Street in Waikoloa Village, makai to connect with the Queen Ka`ahumanu
Highway and towards an environment assessment for the mauka portion of the portion road
through land owned by the Association; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that
the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works recommends the acceptance of this
contribution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County
Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii accepts this contribution.
BE IT FUIaTIIER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to the Waikoloa Community Development Corporation, P.O. Box 383097,
Waikoloa, Hawaii, 96738, acknowledging their contribution.
