I am writing this letter in support ofthe nomination of N4-. Newton Inouye to the
I3awai'i Salarv Commission.
1 have known Mr. Inouye for more than 211 years. -le is a member of the ( lass of
1973, Hilo ITigh School. Asa lilt long resident of Hilo, Neartor i:; a very dec?.ic.d 1d and
hard working individuaA w.'Io has a conunitmect to makiv.g Hilo better. He
demonstrated this comnitment be his past invulv-tment in HGEOk, due Am rrican ( ancer
Society and the Lehua Jaycees. His participation in these; )rganizations shows tha t he is
able to work.,j% ell with others,
Mr. Inouye is intalligent and a strong and indepencent thinker. `Zcr he is T eTy
pragmatic and very practical. Hi;; common sense and prac beat approaeb to pn}Fde m
solving is one of his strengths. He, is not guidt;d by any agenda; he is flexible ar:d open
minded and his focus is problem solving and doing what i:> best for the cornmund r. He
has that "can do" attitude that is needed t.tday
Newton is a htunble and soft spoken individual but he is able to cc mmu'r wste his
thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise fashion. He possesses the skills and qus'.ities
needed to serve on volunteer boards and,x,m,vssions.
I have no doub- that Mr Inouye will bean invala a )le asset to the ~ alaiy
