Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 276-06, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 276-06, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication
No. 736, dated March 3, 2006, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from the Hawaii Island
Golf Association.
The Hawaii Island Golf Association has graciously donated a wall mounted Phillips Automated
External Defibrillator (AED), model #M3857A, for the Hilo Municipal Golf Course, which will
be housed at the golf course starter's office. The value of this donation is estimated at $1,875.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Hawaii Island Golf Association, 82 Makalani Street,
Hilo, Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
Some Members of Your Committee expressed concern over who would conduct training on the
AED. Council Chair Stacy K. Higa will follow up on this concern.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 276-06
and recommends its adoption.
