No. 277-06 PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa TIME: 10:00 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 277-06, reports as follows: Resolution No. 277-06, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 737, dated March 6, 2006, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Canines for Kids, lnc. Canines for Kids, Inc, a nonprofit organization located in Burlington, North Cazolina, has graciously donated a seazch dog to the Hawaii County Police Department's Juvenile Aid Section. The trained canine is capable of searching for missing children and Alzheimer's patients and to trail criminal suspects. The value of this donation is estimated at $8,000. Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf ofthe County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property. A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Mr. Mike Craig, Co-founder/President, Canines for Kids, Inc., 4581 B Tangle Ridge Trail, Burlington, North Cazolina 27217, acknowledging this generous donation. Sgt. John Ancheta of the Hawaii County Police Department clarified that the training of the canine will be with the Honolulu Police Department.
