Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 756, reports as follows:
Communication No. 756, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated March 15, 2006, nominates
Mr. Newton Inouye of Council District 2 to serve on the Hawaii County Salary Commission.
A 49-year resident of Hawaii, Mr. Newton Inouye is currently employed by the Department of
Health as a Registered Sanitarian. He is a past vice president of the Lehua Jaycees, and a past
member of the Hawaii Island Food Bank and the American Red Cross. Of no political party
affiliation, he will serve a term to end December 31, 2010.
Pursuant to Section 13-28, Hawaii County Charter, the salary commission shall consist of nine
members appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council.
There was no discussion on this measure.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Mr. Newton Inouye to the Hawaii
County Salary Commission.
