RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Big Island Visitors Bureau (BIVB) is anon-profit organization located
within the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the BIVB was formed for the purpose of promoting tourism and the economic
growth of the Big Island; and
WHEREAS, the BIVB will augment its 2005-2006 marketing programs with several targeted
promotions; and
WHEREAS, the BIVB will utilize these funds to encourage travel to the Big Island by
promoting the history, scenic beauty, culture, and other attractions in our county; and
WHEREAS, historically, the BIVB has successfully utilized promotional monies to increase
the visitor base (by as much as 17% over last year), which resulted in an increase in hotel bookings
and visitor spending; and
WHEREAS, the BIVB is promoting "The Hidden Treasures of Hawai`i's Big Island", a
campaign geared to highlight small to medium-sized businesses; and
WHEREAS, the campaign is designed to build a dedicated landing page on the Biglsland.org
website that would carry links to all visitor industry partners who have websites or e-mail; and
WHEREAS, Kodak, one of the world's most recognizable brands and a leader in the digital
photography revolution, is sponsoring along with Hawaiian Airlines, a targeted advertising co-
operative promotion for the second and third quarters of 2006; and
WHEREAS, the BIVB, in conjunction with Kodak, is promoting the editorial, which will
feature a look at Hawai`i's history, and will promote our island as a location for movies and TV
shows.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall forward a copy ofthis
resolution to the Director of Research & Development and the Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms ofthis resolution.
