SUBJECT: Resolution calling upon the Hawaii County Department of Public Works to
implement traffic safety improvements at the intersection of Kaloko Drive and
Mamalahoa Highway
Enclosed is a Resolution calling upon the Hawaii County Department of Public Works to implement
traffic safety improvements at the intersection of Kaloko Drive and Mamalahoa Highway, as
recommended by the State Department of Transportation.
This resolution will authorize the County Department of Public Works to implement the
recommended traffic safety improvements, utilizing funds already collected for this purpose through
numerous rezoning ordinances for the Kaloko Mauka Subdivision. The intersection improvements are
necessary for the promotion and preservation of public safety for the people of the County.

RE: esolutio Bill or Communication No. 359-06 (Resolution calling upon the
Hawaii County Department of Public Works to implement traffic safety improvements at the
intersection of Kaloko Drive and Mamalahoa Highway)
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Finance Committee to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this
matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the
matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Finance Committee
for placement on its future agenda.
