Higa, Chairperson and Members of the Hawai'i County Council Hawai'i County Council 25 Aupuni Street Hilo, Hawai'i 96720 Re: Operating Budget The State of Hawai'i Department of the Attorney General is providing an additional funding of $4,350 to their Sexual Assault Multi-Disciplinary Training Grant to the County of Hawai'i. These funds, in addition to the $34,500 previously appropriated for this grant, will be used by the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to coordinate a statewide 3-day training program aimed at improving the delivery of sexual assault services within the criminal justice system. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the additional $4,350 funds into the Sexual Assault Multi-Disciplinary Training grant account and bringing the total grant appropriation to $38,850. With the training program already scheduled for June 7 - 9, 2006, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney respectfully request for waiver from the Finance Committee and to have this bill heard at the Council Meeting scheduled for May 17, 2006. The current federal award is $34,500 requiring a county match of $11,500. The federal award will be increased by $4,350 with a county cash match of $1,450 required. The new federal amount is $38,850, with a mtach of $12,950. Total project cost is $51,800. The following steps are needed in order to process the increase: (1) we will send you a revised Award Letter (as I mentioned on the phone, Julie does the award letter and will be on vacation, returning May 9 so there will be a slight delay). (2) you need to send a revised budget to Kathy.
