When there are important matters affecting <br /> development that directly impacts our lives here in West Hawaii, It is extremely <br /> difficult to miss an entire days' work in order to go to Hilo to testify. We are the tax <br /> base for the county and the vast majority of building projects are here, therefore we <br /> think that a more even representation is appropriate and long overdue. <br /> <br /> One of the other council members whined about "inconveniencing East Hawaii <br /> Council members "because they would have to travel more; I guess it is O.K. to do <br /> that to the West HI councilmembers AND the constituents on this side, but not for <br /> him and his cronies on the East side to have to bear a little of the iniquity that we <br /> <br /> have put up with for years. <br /> <br /> We want to have input on what goes on in our neighborhoods and communities; but <br /> when the majority of the meetings are scheduled two hours away, it makes <br /> involvement onerous for us. We also think that every effort should be made to ask <br /> for input on West Hawaii issues during the Kona side meetings, but that's another <br /> story. Thank you for your service to the constituents of West Hawaii, we hope you <br /> will do the right thing for us.
