Subject: nnmmentary regarding richard wheelock's rezonc application (I:CZ 05-000020)
Dcar Council M.MLCrs,
Please accept this letter of support for Richard Wheelock's re-zone
application (rez 05-000026). My name is Eric Tallan, I represent
Holualoa
o,;gauic FaL= Lm,k (3) 7-0-002-0,~1. Uur rarm is adjacent to the site to
be
re-zoned (mauka and south). I have reviewed the proposal and addressed
my
concerns with Mr. Wheelock. Mr. Wheelock has demonstrated his
understanding
and support o£ the LzddiLiundl agricultural heritage or toe land mauka -
of
his property. He is sensitive to the needs and accepting of the _
Ludli UaN -
of the agricultural livelihood. The design of the development -
demonstrates
Lt,ak he is a responsible developer. The proposal addresses the needs of
the
community including affordable housing, charitable causes and traffic
patterns. Not only has Mr. Wnceiock designed his project to minimize
the
a.mpact on surrounding parcels, he has offered our farm access to his
private
road as a gesture of his goodwill (independent of my decision to support
his
project). The Mamalahoa highway (our only other road access) is so
congested that I cannot live on my own farm and qualify to practice
medicine
at the local hospital in Kona. I am an Ear, Nose and Throat surgeon,
currently living off island, but would like to farm and practice
medicine in
Kona,. In summary, I support Mr. Wheelock's application without
reservation
and encourage the council to grant his request.
Sincerely,
Eric M Tallan
