Subject: May 16 & 17 Council items
Dear Councilmembers, please consider my views on these items:
May 16 1:30 PM PLANNING COMMITTEE
OPPOSE Bills 224 and 225 Hilu Hilu / Palamanui
...unless developer brings evidence of binding agreements to build UH facility, connector roads and
infrastructure. Charles Schwab wishes to rezone for a 855- unit development above the Kona airport and mauka
of Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway. Developers originally promised to build UH facility, connector roads and
infrastructure. At April 26, 2006 Public Hearing Developer and UH DO NOT have an agreement
May 17 COUNCIL MEETING
SUPPORT Bill 268 for equal number of Counil meetings in W.Hawaii.
OPPOSE Bill 251 Stanford Carr, Kona Coffee Estates to rezone 97.347 acres of land above Lowe's.
This would add to traffic on Queen Ka'ahumanu Hwy. and Kailua-Kona; there's not enough water, roads, or parks,
there would be impacts to schools.
OPPOSE Bill 247-- D. Smith, to rezone Ag. 20 acres to Family Ag. 3 acres in Kaloko. This would
add to traffic on Mamalahoa Hwy. and Palani Road, create a dangerous intersection at Kaloko Dr., damage the
forest, watershed, and endangered species.
2:00 PM - Bills for 2nd Readin
OPPOSE Bill 246 to amend the-Subdivision Code.
so County moves incomplete applications forward.
Changes to the code must have full public participation and adhere to open-government policies.
OPPOSE Bills 226 & 227 Lava Kuakini, applicant - to rezone for a townhouse off Kuakini Hwy. next to
Hillcrest. This will add to traffic and there's not enough water.
