Comm. 825: AN ORDINANCE TO INITIATE A CHARTER AMENDMENT TO (Bill 268) ARTICLE III, SECTION 3-7, OF THE HAWAI I COUNTY CHARTER (2000) RELATING TO MEETINGS (provides for Council meetings to be held in West Hawaii on even-numbered months) From Councilmember K. Angel Pilago, dated April 13, 2006, transmitting the above bill, which would require an equal amount of County Council meetings between East and West Hawaii to assure fair and equitable access to meetings. Comm. 833: AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. OS-86, AS AMENDED, THE (Bi11271) OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2006 (appropriates a total of $110,000 to the Transfer to Highway Fund account for Streetlights in District 2 - $30,000, and District 8 - $50,000, and for Roads in Limbo in District 8 - $30,000) From Finance Director William Takaba, dated April 17, 2006, transmitting the above bill. Comm. 834: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER (Res. 321-06) INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII, HAWAII TOURISM AUTHORITY, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7 FOR A WAIPIO PARK RANGER PILOT PROGRAM; and (Note: Bill 272, also related to Comm. 834, continues on the next page.) OS-86, AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 3Q 2006 (by appropriating the Waipio Park Ranger Pilot Program grant for $60,000) From Finance Director William Takaba, dated April 17, 2006, transmitting the above resolution and bill. The State of Hawaii, Hawaii Tourism Authority, through its Natural Resources Program, has awarded the above grant to the Department of Research and Development. These funds will be used to develop, plan and implement a one (1)-year pilot program to contract rangers to staff the County park at the Waipio Scenic Overlook to monitor commercial and visitor activity, report any illegal activity to law enforcement, serve as educational resources for the public, enhance the visitor experience, and protect the environment. Comm. 835: AN ORDINANCE TO INITIATE A CHARTER AMENDMENT TO THE (Bi11273) HAWAII COUNTY CHARTER (2000), RELATING TO VERIFYING AND CERTIFYING PETITIONS FOR INITIATIVE AND REFERENDUM, REMOVAL OF ELECTED OFFICERS AND CHARTER AMENDMENT OR REVISION (eliminates the requirement of providing social security numbers for verifying and certifying petitions for Initiative and Referendum, Remova] of Elected Officers and Charter Amendment or Revision; changes the number of days the County Clerk has to verify and certify petitions and supplemental petitions from twenty working days and five days to five working days respectively; deletes the mailing address provisions because only the residence address is required to identify and verify a properly registered voter on a petition; and other housekeeping changes.)
