Dear Chairman Higa and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Joanne Balberde-Kamalii of Council District 3 to the
County of Hawai'i Civil Service Commission. Ms. Balberde-Kamalii is a 43-year
resident of Hawaii. She is employed by the State of Hawaii, Department of
Education as School Behavioral Specialist at Hilo High School. Ms. Balberde-
Kamalii is a present member of the County of Hawaii Status of Women. She is a
past member of the County of Hawaii Family Violence Advisory Commission and
the East Hawaii Friends of Foster Families.
Ms. Balberde-Kamalii states that she is not affiliated with any political party. If
confirmed, she will serve an unexpired term that will end on December 31, 2008.
