RESOLUTION NO. 384 46
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF THE DONATION OF A SEARCH CANINE
TO THE HAWAII COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Canines for Kids, Inc., a nonprofit organization located in Burlington, North Carolina,
would like to donate a search dog to the Hawaii County Police Department's Juvenile Aid Section; and
WHEREAS, the trained canine, named "Katie", will be used to locate missing children primarily in the
West Hawaii area; and
WHEREAS, the value of the dog with training and equipment is $8,000; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that the Council, on
behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department recommends the acceptance of this donation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii
accepts this donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution and a letter of appreciation be sent to
Mr. Mike Craig, Co-founder/President, Canines for Kids, Inc., 4581 B Tangle Ridge Trail, Burlington, North
Carolina 27217, acknowledging this generous donation.
