Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 293-06, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 293-06, transmitted jointly with Bill No. 253 by Director of Finance
William Takaba, via Communication No. 768, dated March 20, 2006, authorizes the acceptance
of a donation from the Waikoloa Village Association.
The Waikoloa Village Association has graciously donated Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000) to
the County of Hawaii Department of Public Works towazds the construction of the Waikoloa
Emergency Evacuation Road, an alternate evacuation route for the Waikoloa Village residents.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Originally heazd on April 4, 2006, this measure was postponed pending an amendment per the
direction of Council Member Pete Hoffmann, which amends the donor to be "Waikoloa
Community Development Corporation" in lieu of "Waikoloa Village Association".
Resolution No. 293-06, Draft 2 was refen•ed to Your Committee, dated Apri14, 2006, from
Council Member Virginia Isbell, per the direction of Council Member Pete Hoffmann amended
the resolution to state that the donor is "Waikoloa Community Development Corporation".
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Waikoloa Community Development Corporation,
P.O. Box 383097, Waikoloa, Hawaii, 96738, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 293-06,
as amended to Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
