Subject: Bi11235, Draft 3 ~•Y/-~
I ask that you consider amending Bi11235, Draft 3 by increasing the Revenue-Fund Balance
From Previous Year Fund by $45,000, and increasing the Department of Parks and Recreation's
appropriations by the same amount.
The increased expenditures will be used provide funds to purchase a new 15 passenger van
configured for older adults, to replace the Hawaii County Parks and Recreation, Elderly
Activities Division, Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)'s van that is utilized to transport
RSVP volunteers. The van is also utilized to transport recreation participants/staff attending
special events.
The RSVP Van Driver is currently using a used, older model 1994 Ford 15 passenger van. This
van is a "hand-me-down" from the Coordinated Services Program, and replaced the original
RSVP van many years ago. The costs for repairs and maintenance for the 1994 van and an even
older 1992 back-up Chevy van is over $8,200 for the past two years.
Attached is Exhibit A, which reflects the affected appropriations to the revenue and expenditure
accounts.
