Over the past several months, there has been considerable public discussion on the location of our new campus for the University Center in West Hawaii. The approved Board of Regents site for this new campus is on 500 acres of State land, designated for the University of Hawaii, located adjacent to Hilu Hilu's Palamanui Project on the south side. Hilu Hilu and the University have entered into anon-binding Memorandum of Understanding to do joint planning. Continued discussions between the University and Hilu Hilu have been productive. It is now my understanding that Hilu Hilu has verbally consented to provide the University with the following amenities: 1. To build the initial 20,000-square foot building on our 500-acre site. 2. Provide the new road from Hilu Hilu to Kaiminani Drive of approximately 6,600 feet within the University land as described in the proposed conditions to rezoning. 3. Provide the stub-outs for electrical and water to the State land. 4. Design the wastewater treatment system to give the University development connectivity and capacity. 5. Size all infrastructure within the Hilu Hilu development to meet the development needs of the University site. In addition, the University would request that Hilu Hilu provide stub-outs for sewage and all communications to the University's satisfaction. Members of the County Council, this will provide compelling reasons for the University Center in West Hawaii to be relocated to this 500-acre site. Sincerely, I~~ 7~~- Rockne Freitas, Ed.D.
