Subject: Bill 246 Comments
Regarding Bill 246 - Planning Director Amendments to the Subdivision Code
As indicated in the bill, there have been quite a few instances when
poor approval decisions were
being made in the past. Apparently this was common practice. This should
be no excuse to bypass
a Hawai'i Supreme Court decision and change the rules to maintain that
practice. Processes
exist for a reason, and they should be there to serve and protect the
public. Please do not change
the rules, because the impacts seem significant to a few. We will have =
to address those, but we will
address them lawfully.
People like me are not against development, as the Planning Director
seems to indicate, but against
the problems caused by careless approvals. Let's not fix a bad situation
with a bad solution.
In order to keep us all moving in the correct direction, please follow
the process, follow the law,
and oppose this bill. It can not take us any place good.
