Dear Chairman Higa and County Council Members,
The Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Hawaii requests that
the Council support Council Bill 246.
We have reviewed the Planning Director's letter to the Council and find his
reasoning sound. Adding cumbersome and costly steps onto the Planning
Department's subdivision process is not the answer to good planning and
zoning.
These steps would impact the largest but also the smallest developer, and
prove to be burdensome to unintended parties.
Open and clear debate about subdivisions may be needed in our state and
county, but new layers of bureaucracy are rarely an adequate solution.
We urge you to vote for this measure.
