Dear Council Chair Arakaki:
I urge support of Resolution 201 97 in support of the international sport of fin
swimming and the recognition of the Hawaii Fin Swimming Events Council
and its planned training camps, youth exchange programs and international
competitions.
As the former race director of the Ironman Triathlon World Championship,
I have witnessed the beneficial economic impact sporting events bring to the
County of Hawaii. As a swimmer myself, I also believe that the introduction
of fin swimming to the Big Island as an international sport will have a
positive impact on county residents; particularly through planned youth
programs.
