Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 923, reports as follows:
Communication No. 923, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated May 26, 2006,
authorizes the acceptance of donations from Kandi's Drive Inn, Fukunaga Electrical and Bank of
Hawaii - Ka`u Branch.
Kandi's Drive Inn and Fukunaga Electrical have graciously donated $100 each to the Department of
Parks & Recreation, to defray the cost of supplies purchased for the Recreation Division's Hilo District
Biggest Easter Egg Hunt.
Bank of Hawaii - Ka`u Branch has graciously donated $25 to the Department of Park s& Recreation, to
defray the cost of supplies purchased for the Puna District Ka`u Easter Program at Pahala Community
Center.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the County,
may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or gift
which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall be submitted
to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Ms. Candace Fukuda-Hanle, President, Kandi's Drive Inn, 56 W.
Kawailani Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720; Mr. Wayne Fukunaga, Fukunaga Electrical, P. O. Box 4189, Hilo,
Hawaii 96720; and Bank of Hawaii - Ka`u Branch, Pahala Shopping Center, Pahala Hawaii 96777,
acknowledging these generous donations.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the $100.00 donation from Kandi's Drive
Inn; $100.00 donation from Fukunaga Electrical; and $25.00 donation from Bank of Hawaii - Ka`u
Branch.
