No. 931 <br /> <br /> PLACE: Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort and Spa <br /> TIME: 10:30 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> <br /> Your Committee on Planning to which was referred Communication No. 931, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 931, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated June 5, 2006, nominates the following <br /> individual(s) to the County of Hawaii Kailua Village Design Commission: <br /> Council District 8 -Theresa L. Andreae, a 27-year resident of Hawaii was ateacher/director at Hawaii <br /> Montessori Schools from 1992 to 1998. Ms. Andreae is a member of the Kona Outdoor Circle and Kona <br /> Historical Society and states she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed; Ms. Andreae will <br /> serve a term to expire December 31, 2007. <br /> Council District 8 -Stephen J. Herbert, a 54-year resident of Hawaii, is the owner of Stephen J. <br /> <br /> Herbert P.E., Inc. and, from 1995, has been self-employed as an engineer and construction manager. Mr. <br /> Herbert is a current member of the Kona Executive Association and St. Michael's Church construction <br /> <br /> group and states he is not affiliated with any political party. If co~rmed, Mr. Herbert will serve a term <br /> <br /> to expire December 31, 2007. <br /> Council District 7 -Cynthia L. Hope, a 5-year resident of Hawaii, has been involved in resort design <br /> and development as an architect, designer and landscape contractor. Ms. Hope states she is not affiliated <br /> with any political party and, if confirmed, will serve a term to expire December 31, 2007. <br /> Council District 8 -Fanny Au Hoy, alife-long resident of Hawaii, is currently the Palace Administrator <br /> of Hulihee Palace. Ms. Au Hoy states she is not affiliated with any political party and, if confirmed, will <br /> serve a term to expire December 31, 2008. <br /> Council District 7 -Sally Marone, a 3-year resident of Hawaii, retired in 1980 from Western Contract <br /> Furnishers where she worked in design and space planning. Ms. Marone states she is a Republican and, if <br /> <br /> confirmed, will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2008. <br /> Council District 7 -David M. Ross, a 29-yeare resident of Hawaii, is the owner of Ross Engineering, <br /> Inc. and has been self-employed as a civil engineer since 1998. Mr. Ross states he is a Republican and, if <br /> <br /> co~rmed, will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2008. <br /> At the June 20, 2006 Committee on Planning meeting Mr. J. Curtis Tyler presented testimony in <br /> support of the nominees, noting that he himself once served on this commission. Mr. Tyler <br /> noted that the members should review the Ordinance with respect to their authority and it was <br /> very important for members to know what items they are authorized to consider and comment <br /> on.
