Re: Acceptance of Donations
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, which authorizes
the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal property, and with
(2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawai'i County Code, which states that any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of finance
shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we request the Council's approval of the
following donation:
Backstroke flags (total estimated value of $600.00) to the Department of Parks & Recreation
- Aquatics Division, to be used for swimming competitions, such as the Novice, BIIF and
Age Group swim meets, at the Kona Community Aquatic Center, by Ann and Tom Finney,
77-158 Koakoa Street, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740.
We ask that a letter of appreciation be sent to the donor.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the recipient Department.

A. REQUEST:
To accept and acknowledge a donation of backstroke flags for the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks
and Recreation-Aquatics Division, Kona Community Aquatic Center.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge a donation of backstroke flags by Ann and
Tom Finney to the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks and Recreation-Aquatics Division, Kona
Community Aquatic Center. The backstroke flags will be used for swimming competitions, such as Novice,
BIIF and Age Group swim meets. This donation has an estimated value of $600.00.
