Aloha mai e Chairman Higa and Council Members,
The people of West Hawai'i do not trust or support the
council members from Hilo. This distrust has happened
over a very long period of time, when Kona was the
younger sibling. This distrust began way before any
of you were in politics.
But now we have a chance once again, to do something
"right" to show the folks of Kona that the Hilo folks
on the council are not just self-serving. This
meeting structure would at least guarantee equal
access for the Kona folks to be heard.
And we would get to know the Hilo folks much better.
Developing a relationship with another always improves
working together.
Let's support this resolution, equal meetings in Kona
and Hilo.
