Subject: Bill 300
I urge the County Council to postone a vote on Bill 300 on July 19, 2006 to amend the county
code to ban alcohol from all county parks.
I would ask that clarification be obtained on whether there would be exceptions granted by permit
for special events by family or businesses (birthdays, reunions, reorganizations, yearly picnics, or
just a single alcoholic beverage for an individual), where one would go to obtain such a permit,
how notification of use will be distributed, and how that provision would be funded.
The point is; must the liberty for many be swept away by the inappropriate actions of a few. If
the issue is merely lack of consistency in all parks for easier enforcement, address that issue, not
complete prohibition.
