I understand that this amendment will change the County's current land use designation from Important Ag land to Rural for the 100 acres that sits above Kealakekua Bay just behind the Conservation area. Rural designation means that land owners could apply for rezoning in order to subdivide their properties into smaller lots for residential use. More homes, means more sewage and more sewage means more seepage into Kealakekua Bay. The more seepage, the more the chance of breeding the destructive cyanobacteria. Did the County do an environmental impact statement to assess the ocean marine impacts from sewage seepage and man-made runoff into Kealakekua Bay? Did you know that there are many coastline oceans including Maui that are currently suffering from man-made runoff? If Chris Yuen is not going to take the initiative to do an environmental impact statement on Amendment F2 and how the change will affect Kealakekua Bay, then the most responsible action to take is to DELETE General Plan Interim Amendment F2 at this time.
