RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OR HIS DULY AUTHORIZED
REPRESENTATIVE TO NEGOTIATE, EXECUTE AND SUBMIT THE NECESSARY
APPLICATION FOR THE RENOVATION OF A CAREGIVER AND SENIOR
RESOURCE CENTER IN THE COUNTY OF HAWAI I, THE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE FUNDS GRANT AGREEMENT, AND OTHER RELATED
DOCUMENTS TO THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN
DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Housing and Urban
Development (HUD) has advised the County of Hawaii that
Congress has approved and President Bush has signed the
Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, the
Judiciary, the District of Columbia, and Independent Agencies
Act, 2006 (PL 109-115); and
WHEREAS, the Act provides for Economic Development
Initiative Funds of $198,000 for the Renovation of a Caregiver
and Senior Resource Center in Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, HUD has invited the County to submit an
application for the $198,000 of Economic Development Initiative
Funds for the Renovation of a Caregiver and Senior Resource
Center in Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to apply for the $198,000
Economic Development Initiative Funds for the Renovation of a
Caregiver and Senior Resource Center in Hawaii County; and
WHEREAS, a timely submission of the application for
Economic Development Initiative Funds, in accordance with the
appropriate federal requirements, is necessary.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that the Mayor or his duly authorized representative
is hereby authorized to negotiate, execute and submit the
Economic Development Initiative Funds application for the
Renovation of a Caregiver and Senior Resource Center in Hawaii
County, and all other related documents, agreements and
information necessary to process and implement the Economic
Development Initiative Funds application to HUD in the amount of
$198,000.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor or his authorized
representative is designated to act as the representative of the
County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County of Hawaii will
comply with the requirements and certification of the Economic
Development Initiative Funds program and application.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be
transmitted to the Office of Housing and Community Development.
