Re: Acceptance of Donation
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, which authorizes
the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal property, and with
(2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawai'i County Code, which states that any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of finance
shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we request the Council's approval of the
following donation:
One (1) Stand-Up Freezer (with a total estimated value of $420.94) to the Department of
Parks and Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, Nutrition Program; for use by the seniors
belonging to the Hilo nutrition site located in Aunty Sally Kaleohano's Luau Hale for their
program needs and convenience; by Mr. Charles Wagaman, 84 Pukihae Street #1405, Hilo,
Hawai'i 96720; in honor of his late wife, Kimie, who was one of the site's participants.
We ask that a letter of appreciation be sent to the donor.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the recipient Department.

A. REQUEST:
To accept and acknowledge a donation of one Stand-Up Freezer for the Department of Parks and
Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, Nutrition Program.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge a donation by Mr. Charles Wagaman, past
president of the Hilo nutrition site, of one Stand-Up Freezer. It will be used by the seniors belonging to the
Hilo nutrition site located in Aunty Sally Kaleohano's Luau Hale for their program needs and convenience.
Mr. Wagaman is donating it in honor of his late wife, Kimie, who was one of the site's participants.
