To the contrary it speaks well of the process that
has been followed. Without a satisfactory reason to delay important county business, we can
not support this resolution-
Further, it should be noted that delaying action on rezoning applications will have negative
impacts both In the short term and long term. In the short tens it will disrupt planning efforts of
land stewards working to find the appropriate balance in utilizing land under their stewardship.
Delays cost money but.more importantly create an environment of disordei; making responsible
planning even more challenging than currently experienced. In the long tern rezoning delays
will cause delays in the delivery of developments and the public facilities (roadways,
infrastructure, etc.) required as a result of rezoning ordinances. Jobs, Tourism, Tax Revenue
and Businesses will all be negatively impacted.
Increased uncertainty in the County zoning process will increase development cost and make it
less likely to engender the types of alliances with land stewards so needed to find solutions to
the County's dire roadway and infrastructure needs including workforce and affordable housing.
Postponing rezoning will out increased value on zoned properties and make the likelihood of
resolving affordable housing for our community even more remote.
Again, thank you for your consideration. We are and will remain available to you and the
counsel to assist in establishing responsible procedures to guide all of us in improving our
community. Please feel free to contact me at (808) 676-3300 or any Brookfield employee
working on the Big Island for our input or help. We are happy to be of service to our community.
Aloha
BROOKFIELD HOME AU`JAII INC.

Jeffrey for
President

Comm. No.. 101 Z7 • *4 S
Ref.
