Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 991, reports as follows:
Communication No. 991, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
July 31, 2006, authorizes the acceptance of donations from Ann and Tom Finney.
Ann and Tom Finney have graciously donated backstroke flags to the Department of Parks &
Recreation-Aquatics Division, which will be used for swimming competitions, such as the
Novice, BIIF and Age Group swim meets at the Kona Community Aquatic Center. The value of
these donations is estimated at $600.00.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawai`i County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawai`i County Code, any donation or
gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall
be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Ann and Tom Finney, 77-158 Koakoa Street, Kailua-
Kona, Hawai`i 96740, acknowledging these generous donations.
