Aloha Mr. Chair and members of the Hawai'i County Council,
I am opposed Resolution 383-06 to initiate interim amendments to the General Plan for lands
adjoining Honokohau Harbor.
The BLNR-JDI Agreement/contract was in conflict with existing Open County zoning and the
adopted General Plan Open
designation.
Existing Open County zoning and GPD1 designation were in conflict with the Honokohau
RFQ/RFP when issued.
Since under State law, the Agreement is void, there is no basis to consider that Kona Marina
has "entitlements" to the public's land at Honokohau.
Rather than dispute this further, I believe the Council should be active in creating a ban on
urban development of any kind along the coastline to save our ocean environment - an
urgent requirement supported by the public.
I urge this Council to vote "no" on Resolution 383-06.
