A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S)
WHEREAS, the Paniolo Preservation Society (PPS} is an independent, not-for-profit,
voluntary organization of individuals dedicated to preserving the paniolo tradition as a
significant part of the history of Hawaii and of the Western heritage of the United States; and
WHEREAS, PPS represents ranch families from across the state; and
WHEREAS, PPS preserves artifacts, natural history, and living history representative of
Hawai`i's paniolo heritage and raises community awareness about the significance of Hawai`i's
livestock industry through public education and activities; and
WHEREAS, research has shown that farm festivals throughout the world are a
significant aspect of the tourism generating process, and paniolo life is recognized as a strong
agri-tourism product of Hawaii island; and
WHEREAS, PPS is hosting "The Great Waiomina Centennial Celebration," a statewide
festival consisting of art, music, cultural, and culinary events focused around the paniolo theme,
as well as rodeos across the state; and
WHEREAS, "The Great Waiomina Centennial Celebration" will provide visitors to
Hawaii Island with a unique experience by showcasing our island's rich paniolo culture and
agricultural heritage.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that the following amount is hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth
below:

OUT AND FROM:

CREDITED TO:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall
forward a copy of this Resolution to the Director of Finance and that the Director of Finance is
hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
Resolution.
