RESOLUTION NO. 4~s4 ~6
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF AN
AMBULANCE FROM THE OCEAN VIEW COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION TO THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Ocean View Community Association ("Association") recognizes the
need for emergency medical services for the Ocean View community, and wishes to assist the
County of Hawaii Fire Department ("Fire Department") in providing such services to this
geographical area; and
WHEREAS, the Association has purchased a new 2005 Ford F363 ambulance, Vehicle
Identification Number 1FDWF36P85EA24565, which was built to specifications with input from
the Fire Department, with a total estimated value of $152,305.24; and
WHEREAS, the Association desires to donate this ambulance to the Fire Department, to
be assigned to the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates fire station and to provide emergency medical
services primarily to the Ocean View geographic area; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this donation; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that
the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-]2, of the Hawaii County
Charter, the Council of the County of Hawaii accepts the ambulance.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Ms. Evelyn Gonzales, President, Ocean View Estates Community
Association, P.O. Box 6016, Ocean View, Hawaii 96737, acknowledging this generous
donation.
