Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 1008, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 1008, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
August 4, 006, authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Mr. Charles Wagaman.
Mr. Charles Wagaman, in honor of his late wife, Kimie, has graciously donated one Stand-Up
Freezer to the Department of Parks & Recreation, Elderly Activities Division, Nutrition
Program. The Freezer will be used by the seniors belonging to the Hilo nutrition site located in
Aunty Sally Kaleohano's Luau Hale for their program needs and convenience. The value of this
donation is estimated at $420.94.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or
gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall
be submitted to the Council by letter for its approval.
There was no discussion on this measure.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Charles Wagaman, 84 Pukihae Street # 1405, Hilo,
Hawaii 96720, acknowledging this generous donation.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the stand-up freezer from
Mr. Charles Wagaman.
