Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 969 and attached Resolution
404-06, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 404-06, transmitted by Communication No. 969 from Virginia Isbell, Vice Chair, Hawaii
County Council, dated June 27, 2006, presents "A Resolution Requesting the Mayor and his
Administration to Enter into Negotiations with the Owner of the Puapua`a Properties Makai of Ali`i Drive
in Order to Preserve Numerous Pre-Historic and Historic Cultural Sites and Structures Including a Burial
Complex and the Kauakaiakaola Heiau."
At the August 21, 2006 Committee on Planning meeting, testimony in support of Resolution No. 404-06
was received at the Kona Council office from the following persons: Debbie Hecht of the Hawaii Island
Land Trust, Cazol Christianson, Doug Pazker, Brett Conner, Raymond Rusalavitch, Sandy Pazker, David
Hardy-Sullivan and Mikaha Roy, of Kulana Huli Honua.
Public testimony in support of Resolution No. 404-06 was also received at the Hilo Council Chambers
from Mc Ken Kaneshiro.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 404-06 and
recommends its adoption.
