Re: Acceptance of Donation
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, which
authorizes the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal
property, and with (2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawai'i County Code,
which states that any donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures
of the department of finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we
request the Council's approval of the following donation.
A monetary donation of $500 to the Department of Parks and Recreation - Aquatics
Division, to purchase water polo equipment (two junior water polo goals and water
polo balls) that will be used by the Pahala community children for water polo practice
and competition at the Pahala Pool, by the Volcano School of Arts and Science,
Ms. Marilyn Heistand and Grade 3, P. O. Box 895, Volcano, Hawaii 96785.
We ask that a letter of appreciation be sent to the donor.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the recipient Department.

A. REQUEST:
To accept and acknowledge a donation of $500.00 cash for the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks and
Recreation-Aquatics Division, Pahala Pool. The cash will be used for water polo equipment for Pahala Pool.
The equipment will be used by the Pahala community children for water polo practice and competitions.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge a donation of $500.00 cash by the Volcano
School of Arts and Sciences (Grade 3) to the County of Hawaii, Department of Parks and Recreation-
Aquatics Division, Pahala Pool. This donation will be used to purchase the following water polo equipment;
two junior water polo goals and water polo balls.
