Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 325, reports as follows:
Bill No. 325, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, via Communication No. 1023,
dated August 9, 2006, amends Ordinance No. 06-79, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending
June 30, 2007. The amendment is as follows:

3301.21 Federal Grants-Rural Fire Assistance General $9,335
To:
010.221.5228.01 Rural Fire Assistance General $9,335
The Hawaii Ocean View Volunteer Fire Deparhnent, a subsidiary of the Hawaii County Fire
Department will be receiving additional funds from the U.S. Department of the Interior, National
Park Service, through its Rural Fire Assistance Grant program. The grant funds will be used to
enhance fire protection capabilities of rural fire districts by providing fire suppression tools and
equipment.
Pursuant to Section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and Section 13-13(b), Hawaii County
Charter, the Mayor is already authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for this
program identified in the Operating Budget.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 325 and
recommends it pass first reading.
