Subject: Bill #300
This Email is to urge you to support Bill #300 to ban drinking at all our public parks. There is simply
no rationale reason to permit alcoholic beverages at places where there may be children at play.
Furthermore, as we all know, alcohol diminishes inhibitions causing people to behave in ways they
would not ordinarily behave.
We also risk having impaired drivers on our roads. It doesn't take much alcohol to impair judgment or
reflexes. People think beer is an innocuous beverage, but it is just as dangerous as a shot of whiskey,
and I've seen some people go through a six-pack in a few hours at picnics.
Similar laws have been passed in other states with positive results. The beaches will be cleaner, safer,
and friendlier places for Hawaii citizens and visitors alike. Again, I implore you support this very
important bill to protect the citizens and visitors of Hawaii County.
Sincerely,
Faith Rossman, RN, MN
