Re: Acceptance of Donation
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai'i County Charter, which
authorizes the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal
property, and with (2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawai'i County Code,
which states that any donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures
of the department of finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we
request the Council's approval of the following donation:
Thirty-two (32) cubic yards of cinder, including delivery (total estimated value of
$261.68) to the Department of Parks and Recreation, to be used for the beautification
of Kahakai Park in Hawaiian Beaches, by Sanford's Service Center, Inc., Mr. Sanford
Iwata, P.O. Box 1321, Pahoa, Hawai'i 96778.
We ask that a letter of appreciation be sent to the donor.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the recipient Department.

To accept and acknowledge a donation of cinder to the Department of Parks and Recreation
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge a donation by Sanford's Service Center of 32
cubic yards of cinder, including delivery, valued at $261.68. The cinder will be used for the beautification of
Kahakai Park in Hawaiian Beaches.
