Dear Chairman Higa and Council Members:
RE: Donation of State of Hawaii Flag
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, which
authorizes the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal property,
and with (2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(c) of the Hawaii County Code, which states
that any donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the
department of finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we request the
Council's approval of the following donation:
State of Hawaii flag (estimated value of $20.00) to the Office of the County Clerk-Elections
Division, to be displayed together with the American flag in the Elections Office display
window at the Prince Kuhio Mall by Ms. Geraldine Embernate.
We ask that a letter of appreciation be sent to Ms. Embernate at 101 Aupuni Street, #507, Hilo,
HI 96720.
