ALTERNATIVES TO PUNALU'U DEVELOPMENT
One would have to be living in a cave 24/7 to not now that the Ka'u district is the last
frontier that is untouched in the main Hawaiian Island Chain. Especially concerning
Punalu'u Black Sand Beach Park, no Honolulu like concrete jungle should be developed
there.
Rather, a Cultural Center, Educational Center, a University of Hawaii Oceanography
Center and a Turtle Sanctuary are great alternatives rather than a massive concrete jungle
in the area.
I like a Turtle Sanctuary especially because you can charge tourists a fee to go into
Punalu'u Black Sand Beach. A Cultural Center would also be profitable. Both entities
could be run by Hawaii County which would provide revenues. It would be a win-win
situation for Hawaii County and you would have to be living in a cave 24.7 to not see this
feasible ventures.
