Subject: Support for the Acquisition of Punalu'u Bay for the County
Dear County Council Finance Committee,
I am in support of the Council asking Mayor Kim to utilize the Public Access, Open Space,
and Natural Resources Preservation Fund and to enter negotiations for the purpose of
purchasing Punalu'u Bay, in the District of Ka'u. Such negotiations will preserve this
beautiful area as open space, ensure that habitat and nesting grounds of the endangered
honu and honu e'a are protected, and prevent development that would threaten historical,
cultural and natural resources.
