Dear Chairman Higa and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Mr. William Gilmartin of Council District 6 to the
County of Hawai'i Public Access, Open Space and Natural Resources
Preservation Commission. Mr. Gilmartin is a 28-year resident of Hawai'i. He
was a biologist with the National Marine Fisheries Service from 1980 until his
retirement in 1996. Mr. Gilmartin currently volunteers as the Director of
Research for the Hawai'i Wildlife Fund, and he is a member of the Northwestern
Hawaiian Island Reserve Council and the Hawaiian Monk Seal Recovery Team.
Mr. Gilmartin states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed,
he will serve a term to end on December 31, 2011, replacing Mr. John Replogle,
whose term will expire on December 31, 2006.
