"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 15, ARTICLE 7, OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION), RELATING TO THE VETERANS ADVISORY COMMITTEE" "BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I:" SECTION 1. Chapter 15, Article 7, Section 15-61, Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), is amended to read as follows: "Section 15-61.Organization. [ > The veterans advisory committee shall be composed of sixteen members. who shall be appointed by the mavor, confirmed by the council, and may be removed by the mayor with the approval of the council. In addition, the Hawaii Island Veterans Services Counselor of the Office of Veterans Services (Department of Defense of the State of Hawai'il and the Director of the Depaztment of Parks and Recreation, or their desi ig as ted representatives, shall serve as ex-officio members of the committee, without the power to vote." SECTION 2. Chapter 15, Article 7, Section 15-62 (b), of the Hawaii County Code, 1983 (2005 Edition), is amended to read as follows: "(b) The membership of the committee shall include one representative each from the American Legion, Big Island National Guard Retirees Association, Big Island Retired Military Association, Club 100, Disabled American Veterans, Hawaii Island Veterans Memorial, Inc., 442"d Veterans Association, Hilo Interpreters Club, Hawaii Island Women Veterans Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Veterans of the Vietnam War, [eKd] the Military Order of the Purple Heart and the Korean Waz Veterans Or¢anization. The committee shall also include three at-lar¢e members." SECTION 3. Chapter 15, Article 7, Section IS-62 (fj, of the Hawaii County Code, 1983 (2005 edition), is amended as follows: a[/A Tl...u,......:+:i..1....,1 ....:..................:..e........«..e1......fFl.e..FF...o..£..,.:,......... e SECTION 4. Material to be repealed is bracketed and struck through. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material, and underscoring need not be included. SECTION 5. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the provisions ofthis ordinance are declared to be severable. SECTION 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
