RESOLUTION NO. 491 06
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY GIFT OF
EIGHTY THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED SIX DOLLARS ($80,206) FROM THE
DANIEL R. SAYRE MEMORIAL FUND TO THE HAWAII COUNTY FIRE
DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund has presented a monetary gift of eighty
thousand two hundred six dollars ($80,206) to the Hawaii County Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used towards the purchase of rescue vehicles and
associated equipment that will aid in rescue services around the island; and
WHEREAS, forty one thousand six hundred fifty eight dollars and ninety-six cents
($41,658.96) of this monetary gift, had come from a donation by the Worldwide Triathlon
Corporation to the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other
personal property or real estate or any interest in real estate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the County
of Hawaii Fire Department is authorized to accept this monetary gift of eighty thousand two
hundred six dollars ($80,206) from the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution be
sent to the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund, c/o Hawaii Community Foundation, 65-1279 Kawaihae
Road, Parker Square, Room 203, Kamuela, Hawaii 96743 and to the World Triathlon Corporation,
75-5722 Kuakini Highway, Kuakini Tower #101, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 96740-2119 acknowledging
this generous donation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall also forward copies of this
resolution to the Hawaii County Fire Department and the Department of Finance.
