Higa, Chairman and Members of the Hawai'i County Council _ Hawai'i County Council 25 Aupuni Street Hilo, Hawai'i 96720 Re: Operating Budget The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs - Safe Community Program is providing an additional funding of $8,000 to the Hawai'i County Police Department's Traffic Investigation Program. The grant funds will be used to reduce the number of alcohol related fatalities and injuries, increase public awareness, and provide a constant deterrence against drunk driving. Under the current operating budget, the initial grant revenues of $12,560 for the HCPD Traffic Investigation Program (3303.32) are inadvertently placed in the Traffic Training and Equipment account (3303.39). To correct this error and to appropriate the additional $8,000, enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Hawai'i County Police Department. WillialM Takaba Director of Finance APPROVED: Harry Kim Mayor Enc, Comm.
