ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE NAMING A COUNTY RECREATIONAL FACILITY
(TMK: (3) 7-5-018:020) PURSUANT TO CHAPTER 15, HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983
(2005 EDITION).
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Findings and purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to designate the
name "Wai`aha Beach Park" for that certain County recreational facility, identified by Tax Map
Key: (3) 7-5-018:020, pursuant to Chapter 15, Hawaii County Code, which establishes
guidelines for naming of such facilities. Section 15-67(a)(2)(A), HCC, provides that any "open
area" County facility shall, inter alia, be named for its neighborhood, community, region, district
or other identifying geographical location. The subject pazcel is an open azea park located in
Kailua Kona. The site is located along Ali`i Drive. The name "Wai`aha Beach Park" refers to
the bay which the site surrounds.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to Section 15-68 of the Hawaii County Code, that certain open
area County park identified by TMK (3) 7-5-018:020 is hereby named "Wai`aha Beach Park".
SECTION 3. Section 15-68.1 of the Hawaii County Code shall be amended to add
"Wai`aha Beach Pazk" to the list of Kona pazks.
SECTION 4. In the event that any portion of this ordinance is declared invalid, such
invalidity shall not affect the other parts of this ordinance.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
